The New York Mets agreed to a three-year, $126 million contract with infielder Bo Bichette, taking one of the top free agents off the market.
Sources told MLB.com, ESPN and The Athletic about the agreement Friday. The Mets have yet to announce the pact.
Bichette, 27, hit a career-best .311 with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs over 139 games last season for the Toronto Blue Jays. The second-round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft — and son of former All-Star outfielder Dante Bichette — hit .294 with 111 home runs through his first seven seasons.
Bichette, a two-time All-Star, is now set to hit alongside Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto, among others, in the Mets’ revamped lineup.
The Mets, who lost longtime first baseman Pete Alonso in free agency to the Baltimore Orioles, ranked fifth in MLB and second in the National League with 224 home runs in 2025. Their .249 team batting average tied for seventh in the National League.
Mets pitchers and catches are to report for spring training Feb. 11 in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
